Household Tips and Tricks

Household Lemon Cleaner

This is something that is so simple. All I did was take orange peels from the oranges my kids ate and the ends of some lemons I used for cooking dinner that night, put them in a mason jar and filled it to the top with vinegar. I put the lid on it and let it sit on my counter for a couple weeks and then poured into a spay bottle. Cleaned my dirty counters with it and it worked almost as well as Pine Sol! This is homemade and much better on you and your wallet than Pine Sol. ūüôā

Homemade Laundry Soap and Dishwasher Detergent

This recipe is great! I make a big container of Dishwasher Detergent and then make the Laundry Detergent from that when we need it.

Ingredients you will need:

Borax, Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (I get it from Ace Hardware), Dawn Dish Soap, Water

Use 1/1 of the Borax and Washing Soda. I fill a large container that hold 6 cups, so that would be 3 cups Washing Soda and 3 cups Borax. Make sure to mix it really well. I use a whisk to mix it. As a rinse aid I use Vinegar and it works really well.

To make the Laundry Detergent

When you need more Laundry Detergent put 2 cups of the Dishwasher Detergent in a large bowl. Add 2/3 cup Dawn Dish Soap and enough water to dissolve the powder (up to 4 cups). Funnel into a clean gallon milk jug and add more water if needed. I use a 2/3 cup measure per load. 1 Gallon of detergent lasts my family 2 weeks.
